Professional Sod Installation
If you have bare patches on your lawn, there are two ways to grow grass on it. You can try seeding it if it is a sunny area and letting nature takes its
course or if you are dealing with shade, your only choice is to install sod over it. Seeding the area is the least expensive. Installing sod can either be done
by yourself or you can hire Lawn Jockey to install your Lewisville Sod for you.
Once you have hired Lawn Jockey to lay your Lewisville sod, they will come out and measure the area you want done. You can do just the minimum
approved install or the whole lawn. The larger the area, the longer it will take to get the job done and the higher the cost of materials. There are different
types of sod. Your Lawn Jockey Lewisville sod installer will help you choose the best kind based on your lawn and your watering and mowing preferences.
After the lawn measurement and choosing of sod, you will get an estimate on the lawn installation.
There are a few things that might seem a little odd if you watch your Lewisville Sod installer work. You might notice that he lays the first edge of sod
directly up to a straight line such as one caused by a sidewalk or curb. This is so that your lawn is even with the borders. Another thing you may notice is
that he pushes the sod pieces together, so there are no gaps between them. You may think that sod needs to breathe but actually gaps between the
pieces can kill your lawn quickly. Once your installer is done with the large area of the lawn, he will cut the sod pieces to fit the oddly shaped areas, such
as around a curving sidewalk or curved flowerbed. After all the sod is down, the installer will go back over each piece and press down on it with a roller to
remove any air bubbles that may have got caught. Air bubbles will also kill your lawn if they aren't removed.
Now its time for your Lewisville Sod's first watering. Your installer may do this or may leave instructions for you to do it, if you are home. The first 2 weeks
you will need to encourage the sod roots to dig deep for water by giving regular heavy waterings. You need to wet the top 6 to 8 inches of soil, but don't
do it too frequently or you will drown the sod roots.
